This is insane!

We need your help this week. Back in June, we had some great news about fundraising. Our State Senator Josh Newman and Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva were pushing two bills to establish a Coyote Hills Conservancy (SB-714) and allocate acquisition funding (AB-510). This would have established a multi-year source of funding to save all of Coyote Hills for a park and preserve for this community.

You’d have to be insane to not support this, right? Well the majority of Fullerton City Council opposes these bills. In fact, they have rallied other organizations and surrounding cities to oppose these bills. They are pressuring Josh and Sharon to change these funding bills to legitimize the Chevron development plan, and to limit the fundraising so most of the development can go forward.

It’s a case of “I’m all for saving Coyote Hills… unless it can actually be done.” If the Fullerton City Council implements their “acquisition plan” with state funds, more than 700 houses will still be developed on Coyote Hills!

It is extremely important that Sharon and Josh hear from us voters. Please write or call to tell them to ignore the noise from the Fullerton Council or else that squeaky wheel will prevail. Tell Sharon and Josh to keep pushing for long term funding to save all of Coyote Hills. Do not forget the 61% of us Fullerton voters who voted for no development on Coyote Hills.
